2. Scope

3. The app – data collection
Sundowner collects no personal data and sends nothing to our servers. No account, no tracking, no analytics, no ads, no device IDs.
3.1 Location data
The app optionally uses your location (GPS) to calculate sun and moon times for your place. The location is processed exclusively on your device and is not transmitted to us. Legal basis: your consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) via the iOS location permission, revocable at any time in your iPhone settings.
3.2 Apple geocoding
To turn your location into a place name (and vice versa for city search), the app uses Apple's geocoding service. Apple Inc.'s privacy terms apply; we receive no data in the process.
3.3 Local storage
Saved places/favorites, settings and the most recently calculated times (for the widget and Live Activity) are stored exclusively on your device and never leave it. Reminders are scheduled as local notifications without any server. Uninstalling the app removes all data.
4. The website – sun-moon.app
4.1 Hosting
The website runs on a server operated by DigitalOcean, LLC in the Frankfurt am Main (EU) data center. When you visit, technically necessary server log data is processed (IP address, date/time, requested URL, browser type/operating system). It is used solely to operate the website securely and reliably and is stored only briefly. Legal basis: legitimate interest (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
4.2 Cookies & tracking
The website uses no cookies, no analytics tools, no marketing cookies and no social-media trackers. No tracking takes place.

The website has an optional form for reporting bugs. When you submit it, the following data is processed:

Processing: The report is sent to us by email. For email delivery we use the provider Resend (Resend, Inc., USA) as a processor; the transfer to the USA is based on Standard Contractual Clauses. The data is used solely to handle your report.
Spam protection: The form uses a server-side arithmetic captcha plus technical safeguards (honeypot, timing check, per-IP rate limiting). Verification happens entirely on our own server – no external captcha services are used.
Legal basis: your consent by actively submitting the form (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR), revocable at any time. Retention: until resolved, at the latest after 12 months.

Sundowner collects no personal data and is suitable for users of any age. The bug form should only be used by minors under 16 with the consent of a parent or guardian.
